NEW TURBOCHARGER FOR 1.6 L HDI 110HP, 1.6D 110 AND 1.6 L TDCI 110HP ENGINE INTENDED FOR CITROËN, FORD, MAZDA, MINI, PEUGEOT AND VOLVO. NEW TURBO WITHOUT RETURN OF DEPOSIT! For warranty, plan to replace the strainer + engine oil change with pre-drain cleaner, clean the air exchanger... (see PROCEDURE and CHECKS sections) Check the available installation kits in our store!

Known issue on 1.6l HDI PSA engines, turbo failure is not systematically related to its fragility! New generation 1.6l HDI engines suffer from an oil circuit clogging issue, which leads to turbocharging failure. 1 Drain the engine oil by adding a pre-drain engine cleaner and replace the oil filter twice in a row: The engine oil must be at temperature. The vehicle must be on a level surface (lengthwise and widthwise).

Loosen the oil filter so that the oil can drain completely. Remove the filler cap and dipstick. Let the oil flow out through the lower sump. Do not drain by suction! IMPORTANT: If the oil dipstick tip is yellow and made of synthetic material, replace it with a composite model in orange (ref 1174E6) and check if your oil pan is among the models to be replaced.

2 Clean: Completely clean the oil cooler and filter side of the engine with brake cleaner and dry the parts with compressed air. Clean the vacuum pump strainer with brake cleaner and dry everything with compressed air. IMPORTANT: If the oil appears contaminated, the system must be rinsed before proceeding. For vehicles with less than 60,000 km, the lower engine pan must be cleaned.

For vehicles with more than 60,000 km, the lower engine pan must be replaced and the oil strainer changed. 3 Check/replace oil line: Replace the oil supply hose with a new element. Replace the hollow bolt of the oil inlet and its seals. Replace the oil return hose, its fitting, and its seals.

IMPORTANT: Check in the hollow bolt that the pre-break-in strainer or filter has been removed and is not left in the block. 4 Fill with oil and test: Replace the oil filter with a new element. Reattach the drain plug with a new seal. Fill the engine oil to the correct level.

Position the oil return hose in an appropriate collection container. Start the engine and let it run for 60 seconds at idle. The amount of oil drained must be more than 500ml during the 60 seconds.

IMPORTANT: Do not run the engine if the oil level is below the minimum. 5 Fill oil: Properly connect the new oil return hose to the turbo. Fill the engine oil to the required amount. Let the engine idle until the oil pressure warning light goes out, max 1 minute, turn off the engine and let it sit for 5 minutes. Check the oil level with the dipstick.

It should be close to the maximum without exceeding it. 6 Additional checks: Visual inspection of the injectors, if there are soot traces, it may indicate that an injector is leaking. Resolve the issue before continuing. In case of pollution, it must be cleaned or replaced. Check the particulate filter and replace it if necessary. Checks to be carried out before replacing your turbo and to prevent possible breakage after its replacement: Check the injector seals.

Remove the air inlet pipe to the turbocharger to see if the compressor wheel nut is present: - If the nut is present, check the axial and longitudinal play and if the blades do not touch the compressor housing. If the nut is absent, it must absolutely be found before reassembling the new turbocharger.

Check the vacuum pump and its strainer filter at the inlet. If too clogged, it must be replaced; otherwise, clean it. Check all hoses and lines including the exhaust and ensure there are no foreign bodies, constrictions, or pinches. Remove and clean the air exchanger (intercooler) and the breather system.

The entire filtration must be replaced: oil filter, air filter, strainer, banjo bolt, vacuum pump if the strainer is too clogged. Check that the particulate filter (DPF) and the catalyst are not clogged or heavily soiled. The interval between engine oil changes. Even if the manufacturer recommends maintenance every 20,000 km, it is strongly recommended, on this 1.6l HDi engine, to change the oil every 7,500 to 10,000 km to preserve your engine. Injector leaks; if you see traces of black oil around the injector, feel a loss of power, the engine is noisy, and an odor of unburned gas comes into the cabin.

It is important to address this issue quickly because the soot formed around the injector causes contamination of the engine oil, which will ultimately decrease lubrication of the turbocharger and lead to its failure. The oil pan strainer and the strainer filter of the banjo bolt on the oil inlet of the turbo are the two elements most sensitive to this contamination.

The quality of engine oil, you must use a quality oil with a viscosity of 5w30 or 5w40, ask for advice from a specialist. The EGR valve can also cause this pollution in the oil circuit, so it must be checked before replacing the turbocharger. On certain models, the oil pan must be replaced when changing the turbo because it has a design flaw that prevents complete drainage of used oil during the oil change. If you have a yellow oil dipstick, inquire!

The capacity goes from 3.4l to 3.9l which requires replacing the oil dipstick, which is then orange in color. The cause of lack of lubrication and deterioration of engine oil quality has several possible explanations. Turbo breakage is generally due to a lack of lubrication. The turbo shaft rests on a cushion of pressurized engine oil, it spins at extreme speeds. Any lack of oil quickly deteriorates it!
